Noël a lieu en période d'agnelage. La
veillée de Noël et la Messe de Minuit sont accompagnées très souvent d'une
cérémonie de pastrage avec bénédiction des troupeaux. Durant la messe, un
berger présente en offrande un agneau nouveau-né qui sera béni mais pas
sacrifié. Les bergers et leurs
troupeaux sont des figures emblématiques de la crèche, ils se déplacèrent
en masse pour rejoindre la crèche où Jésus est né.
